Do we want transformational leadership coming out of this crisis or a steadying of the ship? What would transformational leadership mean? Even if we now have the political window, do we have the financial resources, leadership and well-functioning multilateral fora to carry out such a reset? And without the resources, competent leadership and systems is there a risk that transformational ambitions could leave people worse off, more insecure and more unequal even than they are now?
If we accept that this transformational moment must be grasped, then what is required to grasp it? Is this about narrative vision or managerial competence? How do we want our leaders to lead us out of this mess? Whether within companies, communities or countries what kind of people do we want to follow? Will the people who win followers be those who promise to make things much better, or those we trust not to make things much worse?
